Mid-Week Funny!!!

Oh this is my little sweet Julia....In case you live on some other planet and you are unaware of the fact that she is my only girl...after 3 great boys.....than you know she might just be a bit on the, shall we say "spoiled" side. Not the bratty spoiled kind...just used to having mommy to herself often, being held a lot....that sort of thing......loves having my attention and being wherever I am at all times!!!
So we've been having a little bedtime issue here for the past month. When she is laid down for her nap and bedtime she doesn't stay there for long......down the stairs she comes...up the stairs I take her....and we do this at least twice to ten times......This never used to be an issue, but it is now! I know there is no other reason than....she is seeing what she can get away with.....but we have been very firm with this issue and for some reason she is not a fast learner in this area.
So here is what we found when we went to bed one night....after several daddy confrontations of not staying in her bed.......
Sleeping at the bottom of the stairs...we have a door at the bottom of the stairs. Funny that she thought she needed to come down the stairs, but not go through the door, because that would warrant another "daddy confrontation."
Then that next afternoon I waited 10 minutes after putting her in bed and thought...."Great I haven't heard anything she must have actually stayed in her bed...." I open the door and find this! Sound asleep already.....and yes I notice she is in the same clothes as the night before.....guess we didn't get her out of her sleeping clothes till after nap...Hmmm well that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes at our house! I am sure that never happens at your house though.......Happy Wednesday!!

Mid-Week Funny!!!

A funny thing happened last week I thought I would share......I had to get a few things at the store before taking all the kiddos with me to the Pediatrician's office for check ups for Lance and Julia.....Bravely off I went and peanut butter was one of the three things we needed to get. Lance saw this HUGE 6lb canister and said "Mom this baby is what we need!" After looking at the front I saw it read "Great for Daycare (check we meet that requirement), Schools (yep we meet that one too), and Restaurants (yep again)" Well I thought since we met all the standard places that need this HUGE canister we better take it home with us :) Now I smile every time I open the cupboard and see this huge red thing!!!!

Mid Week Funny!

Julia all dressed in her "Help Mommy" Garden attire!!! I love those chubby bare feet!!

This stunning combination of pink shirt and skirt and RED firetruck rain boots is an exclusive look....sorry you just can't buy it anywhere!!

Okay so I laid Julia down for her nap today and then of course we had lots of DRAMA with that...sidenote.....we took the "night night" away (her pacifier) over a week ago, and since then she won't lay down peacefully for bed, and she now has taught herself how to crawl out of her crib...NICE I know!!......So after I heard no screaming and tantrum fit throwing coming from the stairway I figured our "DRAMA MAMA" had escaped from her bed......so I walked up the stairs and this is what I found....No Drama mama (aka Julia).......So I turn around from the bed and below it what I found......

Her asleep in the rocking chair that she was begging me to "Rock a Baby" in.....Funny HUH??? Well I left her there for a few minutes more while I put my groceries away...to be sure she was asleep...then went back up and placed her back in her bed where she should have been.....I KNOW!!! I KNOW!!! "One of these days I'm gonna look back and wish I had these days back"....that's what everyone tells me....Are you all sure about that or has it just been so long since you had "those days" that you have forgotten????
All kidding aside I am enjoying every trying and funny minute of "these days" because I already know they will be gone in the blink of an eye.......

Early Midweek Funny??

So this is what happened at our house this morning....It has been a bit of a stressful time around here this am...it started with the missing kitty drama..(no worries they have now been found..and are now in a safer place!) Then onto some bad attitudes and poor work ethic when it came to chore time...Then the kiddos were given permission for a little break time to play in the boys room (upstairs) while I finished folding some laundry (downstairs). Julia went along to get in on some of the fun too..which is fine usually....I hollered upstairs to remind Lance to shut the door to My and Hubby's bedroom to make sure Julia didn't go in (which is a normal thing they do as soon as they go upstairs.) Then after just a few minutes...couldn't have been more than 5 minutes I walked part way up the stairs to check in and make sure everyone was doing okay..no Julia to be found...After questioning the boys on her whereabouts I went first thing to my room.....the door was locked???? HMMMM...I said "Julia are in you in mommy's room and she promptly said "Yes mommy!" with excitement in her voice.....Grrrrr...After a big sign and probably a dirty look to the boys....I tried to explain to Julia (remember she will 2yr in June) how to unlock mommy's door....so after what seemed like endless explaining I came to the conclusion that she didn't have a clue what I was saying....I was wondering what to do....Naturally I called Hubby!.... Okay so that didn't help me out much because he was an hour away.....So I took the door knob off the side facing me and tried to figure out how to unlock from my side...NO luck...So again I am wondering what to do...by now Julia realizes she can't get out and she keeps saying "Mommy out!!" "Open door!" In the middle of all this the boys are trying to tell me they know what to do so they are trying to "help mommy" which is making mommy quite crazy to say the least! So now I am thinking to myself if I have to call the fire department or something like that to get my daughter out of this room I am going to just DIE!!!! Okay so I call Hubby again and he says call someone close and see if they can help or just knowck down the door (I thought "Well I have always hated those hollow doors anyway and I seriously thought about taking him up on that offer so I could score a new one, but then I thought better of it!" I didn't want to tramatize Julia)...So a call to Uncle Jim was in order...He was home on lunch break, and he agreed to come over and SAVE US!!...While I am waiting on him to arrive of course I keep fiddling with the door thinking to myself what an idiot I must be because I can't for the life of me figure out what I need to do in order to flip the lock.....In all my frustration I did something right or wrong maybe and the lock clicked!!! WHEW!!! I rescued my Julia and probably gave the boys the "Your lucky I got that open and did have to call the fire department look......" In the mean time I called Hubby once again to tell him I now have the situation under control and to call uncle Jim and tell him his assistance is no longer needed...I heard uncle Jim pull in the driveway..then stop..then heard him pull out again.
Thanks uncle Jim for coming all the way over here and then leaving...we probably owe you some cookies or something :)
Thanks Hubby for you unending patience that was needed when mommy was in here "What in the world am I gonna do panic mode!"
I am not ready to laugh about all this yet but maybe it's all funny to someone....I am telling you this story in the hopes that I will soon be able to look back and think "Oh ya, I remember when......" But I am definitely not there today!!

Mid Week Funny!

(This pic is of Lance taken February 09')
Okay so when it rains....or if we have mountains of snow that melts at one time, our side yard will flood. Of course our boys think that the water is a spontanious pond that appears and that the pond would naturally have fish in it right????

So bundled up he went outside to "fish"...even got a couple bites he said but they got away!

(Pic taken this week...Zach to the left, Lance, then Caleb)
So with all the rain we have constantly had in the last 5 days they were all back at it again.......We had more water this time...so more fish right???? I just try really hard not to laugh and listen to their "fish stories" about nearly catching the whopper!!!

Mid Week Funny!

I kind of figured lunch might be a little messy this afternoon so I removed Julia's shirt....guess I was right!!!

And then she decided to rub her eyes (cause she was ready for bed).....before we were done she rubbed both eyes....and then was completely covered in orange sauce :)
The joys of learning to feed themselves!!!!

Mid Week Funny!

Can you guess who this is????
My Mid Week Funny has nothing to do with this picture, but the picture in and of itself is funny enough I think!!!!! I will tell you at the end of my post who it is......
So I already told you Monday was a day I spent with just Caleb...(who by the way is so excited that his birthday is on Saturday...he has a count down going on only 3 days till my birthday and 2 days till my party....I remember those days of such excitement before your next birthday....now I just try to forget them and hope I will start to get younger!) Anyhoo..We were in the car traveling from place to place and he says to me "Mom is just doesn't get any better than this a mom and her son just spending a fun day together. I am having so much fun. I mean this is more fun than going to Chuck E Cheese." I teared up and just about fell out of the drivers seat all at the same time. I was so touched by the fact that he was having such a great time doing nothing really, but he let me know that he cherished the time we were spending one on one with each other. ( That's the part that made me a bit teary.) Then when the whole Chuck E Cheese comment was made I just couldn't believe it...he has been begging to go there for weeks and has been using his upcoming birthday as reason enough to make the trip! So when he said our errand running together even beat going there I was just.....well speechless...and most of you know that is not a very common occurrence with me...Well I just wanted to share those very special moments with you all and hope you got a little chuckle out of them as well.........Happy Wednesday!! Yep, it's Caleb!!

Mid Week Funny!

Okay, well let me explain!! It is a "ritual" at our house that after the kids take a shower/bath they go stand in front of the stove to warm up and dry off....Well I caught two of my boys...whose name I will no mention...pulling up a chair and warming up side by side.

I just couldn't help myself.......I had to grab my camera and capture the moment! I am sure they will thank me later...or maybe not..

Mid Week Funny!

Here is a picture of my 5 year old Caleb (soon to be 6) "ROCKIN' IT!" the other day!!!! Complete with the 70's hair and all (thanks to a wig his daddy found years ago and can't bring himself to part with )

He is absolutely like his daddy in many ways, especially in the way that he is always singing, humming, or dancing around to some sort of music...even if there is no music playing.....it always is in his head :)

MId Week Funny!

Okay, so I realize that my mid week funny is not so mid week, but here it is anyway!! These pics are from this fall. Lance and Caleb decided they were going to dig for "gold, or Dinosaur bones, or some sort of treasure" and this was the result.

They were just so proud that they had dug a hole so big that they could both sit it...they insisted I take a photo of this amazing accomplishment :) They weren't so thrilled when I informed them that when they were all done digging....they had to fill it back in.......

Mid-Week funny!!

Okay so this funny is brought to you by my oldest son Lance, who is very logical thinking, quick learner, and very talkative!!! Well anyway he was outside playing this past fall while everyone else was napping, and he came busting in the house with such excitement and seriousness in his voice that I stopped right away to see what was going on. In a very serious voice, he said "MOM the PRESIDENT of the United States just drove by OUR house!!!" I said "Are you sure?" Then he replied like I was some kind of a crazy woman "Yes mom I am sure,!" So I went on to ask him some questions and these were his replies. "So tell me Lance was the President in a BLACK car with flags on it?" "Yes mom, it was black with these neat flags on it." I asked one more question, "Lance was there a whole bunch of other cars following him?" He got this look of amazement on his face like he couldn't believe I was getting all these things right about the sighting of the President without being there with him to see it. "Yes mom there were a lot of cars following him, how'd you know."

I tried to hold back the laughter because I hated to squelch his excitement and I didn't want him to be embarrassed, then I broke the news to him.

Lance that was the hurse for a funeral procession, they were heading down to the church cemetery (which is just down the road from our house about a mile or so). He simply said "Oh my mistake, but I really did think it was him mom." Then cheerfully walked out the door to go play some more.

GOTTA LOVE IT!!!

Mid Week Funny!

I thought it would be fun if mid-week I could give you all something to laugh at!!! If you are anything like me, sometime I take life a little to seriously! I forget to laugh amongst the craziness of schedules, schooling, and housework...Know the feeling???

This week's funny is a favorite of mine! Since we are getting ready to celebrate the majestic birth of Jesus this ties right in with this funny story....So last year Caleb would have been 4 years old and around our house we share the Christmas story frequently to remind ourselves and our kids what the focus of the holiday really is about...plus these things are reinforced at church and awana.

So it was New Year's Eve and we had around 15 people over, mainly family, to ring in the new year. My husband's sister was about to be married in March was there along with her finance. I don't remember if we were talking about the wedding or what. But anyway we were all sitting around playing cards and Caleb out of no where says "So Jessica are you a virgin?" I think everyone in the room stopped what they were doing and started laughing...of course I think she was horrified and wanted to crawl in a whole and die. I was so shocked at the out of no where question I myself foudn it hard knowing what to say next.....so I just said "Sorry, can you tell we've talking about the Christmas story alot in the past couple weeks, I guess that is where that question came from." I love the innocence of children's questions..although sometimes uncomfortable situations can arise because of them..they make you smile afterwards :)

How about you, any funny stories to share?
