EVER WONDER WHY....


 Date nights or always put off until six months have passed and we can't remember when our last date night even was???? I feel like sometimes we do a great job of getting a date night on the schedule at least once a month.....and then all the sudden I realize it's been six months.....WHAT???!!!! This has not been the case for us lately, but it has been before. We always have such a nice refreshing time with just the two of us hanging out, sharing a great meal (that I didn't have to cook!!!), enjoying uninterrupted conversation!!! It's always such a grand time....and then we ALWAYS say why do we wait so long in between "dates"? I think I have mainly credited it to the season of our life, with 4 children and the busy schedules of life it just happens. I am okay with that and know that I truly appreciate them when they do roll around!!! I do want to make sure they do stay a priority on our schedule though. I think it is so important for couples to get away to focus on their marriage relationship. It really is the best gift you can give your children. I know I have talked to lots of people who feel to guilty to have a date night with their spouse because they don't want to leave the kids with someone else....... It actually is a gift to your child to have a once in awhile time away. You come home feeling refreshed and ready to "take on the world" again and they usually enjoy a supper FUN time being with friends, family, or the babysitter who will sit and give them all the lap time they want twith plenty of book reading or movie watching!! WIN WIN for everyone!!!
Just a little side note to....If you have never had a night away with your spouse or a min-vacation without the kids...I STRONGLY encourage it!!! It doesn't have to be a week somewhere far away, maybe just an overnight at a local bed and breakfast.....DO IT!!!! I can't tell you what a blessing it has been to be able to go away with my hubby for awhile! Such a fun time of relaxing and enjoyment of each other company! I will admit that you have to do a lot of planning ahead with where the kids will go and all those details, but it is worth every single minute of it!!!!
So all that leaves me WONDERING, when was your last date night???? WHY are you waiting....take you spouse out on date.....

EVER WONDER WHY....

Some people are always in a bad mood? Ya know the ones that are seem to always choose to be negative about everything!!! Ohhh how I loath being around such people on a regular basis. I remember when I worked full time, pre-kids, I worked with such people. It wasn't long before all there negative talk and perspective starts to rub off on me.
It is in those moments when I realize that it really is up to me to surround myself with like minded positive Christian women. Putting myself in a "family" of women who LOVE the Lord, these women can help me keep a proper grasp on circumstances and encourage me when I need it! I have learned over the years how I choose to deal with these people......being overly kind to them and being very positive and upbeat (not in a fake way) which comes natural for me. I think it is hard to keep being so grouchy when no one will join in on your complaining party....that is just my opinion and how I choose to deal with people who needs some happiness!

So that leaves me WONDERING how do you deal with chronically negative people in your life?

EVER WONDER WHY....

 You feel guilty when you stop to play? I am have this great guilt that comes over me when I am hanging out with the kids playing around during my regular day. When I am hanging out I have this dreaded feeling of being unproductive. I know in my heart that this "feeling of guilt" is a lie, and that spending time with my kids playing or being silly is productive in many ways. I know that in these moments together we experience great teachable and precious moments that I treasure and I know they LOVE my full attention. I do struggle with it though....and I really WONDER WHY! I know what scripture has to say about how I spend my time. So why in the world is this even an issue with me????
MY EXCUSE: I am a Type A personality who likes lists...check..check...check....

I also hate the idea of someone showing up at my house and it is completely destroyed!!! Which seems to happen often with my four children!! I am getting better at this one, because I have learned there is a big difference between a filthy dirty house, and a house that is simply lived in and needs toys, books, or whatever picked up.

Also I want my husband to be able to come home to a clean and uncluttered house. Not because he demands it, because he doesn't, but I want our home to feel like a haven he can relax in and not look around and see all the mess!

All that being said I still know where my heart lies, and that is with my children. A clean house is nice, but not where my heart is. So I have been constantly training myself to follow what I know in my mind to be truth, and not go with the "feelings" my heart gives me...which tend to be lies the devil is throwing my way to distract me. So do you struggle with this also? What seems to help you overcome being a "workaholic?"

EVER WONDER WHY....

People now a days think 4 kids is a big family? Whenever I am out and about and I see people I haven't seen in a long time or maybe I just have not seen them in a couple of years one questions always arises soon rather than later. "So how many children do you have?" When I reply that I have four and then they ask their ages....they just about choke, gasp in horror, or roll their eyes and reply "Wow, big family huh!? I usually don't say anything in return just smile. I mean what are you suppose to say.....What I really want to do is laugh because believe it or not at our Christian (non-denominational) church four is pretty much the minimum....so they are think of us as a small family...smile... It wasn't that many years ago when America was so much more family oriented and everyone had about 8-12 kids without blinking an eye. I realize that these are different times now....but I don't think that is always or in most cases good thing. I think there are a lot of people caught other non-essential issues when they think of family size in today's terms. Like for example people think that if they have more than 1 or 2 children they could never pay for college for both of them. (Who says that paying 100% of your children's college education is a good idea anyway? (That is whole different discussion in and of itself.) 

So I guess today I am left Wondering Why my family's size makes people turn and run the other way...smile.....

EVER WONDER WHY....

As Americans we are so wasteful? My kids leave food on their plate and then whine they are hungry in a couple of hours....We don't eat all the leftovers and then they spoil.....ya know just plain old wasting. This came my mind lately the other day when I caught myself being all "tickled pink" that I use up ALL the mustard...every last drop to make meatloaf. Then I used up all the rest of the crackers in the sleeve before they went bad (which is the usual with us..they don't usually go bad because we eat hem up), and in the same day I scraped the last of the peanut butter from the jar and at lunch used every last smidgen of mayo. Whew!!! Funny how I got such satisfaction out of knowing that I didn't waste any of those such meaningless items.
As a family we try very hard to be good stewards of everything that the Lord has blessed us with. Justin and I are trying to instill in our children the reality that not all families, children, and pets are as loved as we are in our own family. Having an excessive food supply that surpasses our needs and a secure warm home is a luxery and a blessing, not a right. Living in America spoils us! Most of the world does not live the way we do yet we waste so much. Does that leave you WONDERING WHY and how you might be wasting your resources?

When was the last time you reached out to someone without wanting something in return?

EVER WONDER WHY....

Woman were made to be multi-taskers? I think it is a pretty know fact that a BIG difference between most men and women. Men generally can focus on ONE thing at a time, while women are tend to be fixing breakfast, making a grocery list, answering the phone while checking their email. GOD MADE US VERY different in that department...Wouldn't you agree?
I heard something lately that really stunned me....a women recently shared during Sunday School (we were studying marriage) that men actually have a "Nothing Box". So you know when you just sitting around and you ask you hubby, "So, what cha' thinking about honey?" Then they reply "Nothing." Well it turns out, IT'S TRUE! I had no idea.....so being the wonderful women we are, we want to fill that "Nothing Box" with something.....but guess what when we fill it...they get another "Nothing Box"!   FUNNY huh? Well in all seriousness I envy that a little bit.....I want a NOTHING BOX!!! I want to sit down and enjoy a night of rest without thinking about the next day...cleaning, laundry, school, getting my quiet time, soccer practices, and I could go on and on. I am sure most of you can relate!
Do you sometimes find that you multi-task yourself to death? The other day I had to just stop and laugh at myself.....I started to go get the cleaning supplies to clean the bathroom...then I thought as I walked by the washer and dryer that I should first switch a load of laundry then clean the bathroom while it was running....okay back to getting the cleaning supplies....then I saw the toilet paper and thought I should grab a few rolls and restock the tp under the sink...onto the bathroom....So as I started to clean the bathroom I need paper towels and go the kitchen to get them them I notice dishes that need put away. So I thought to myself, "While the toilet cleaner is doing it's thing, I will put away the dishes"....then I notice the counter needs wiping...then I remember oh ya I am suppose to be cleaning the bathroom......okay you get the point but I could keep going! That's when I stopped myself and laughed. Then I thought to myself....slow down GIRL!!! One thing at a time!!!  All of this makes my WONDER WHY I think I need to be zooming around multi-tasking myself into a stress mess.
Please comfort me by telling me I am alone in my zooming around the house.....you all do these funny running around cycle of trying to get a million things done at one time, right?

EVER WONDER WHY....

When you decide to take a couple minutes to make a phone call that everyone in your house seems to flock into the room needing you? All my children can be upstairs or outside playing together, ever so nicely might I add, and then I get on the phone and all havoc breaks out!!! Someone enters the room crying, wanting to tell me something that "just can't wait", Julia wants to be held or wants a drink ASAP! I am convinced they have some little sensor, radar, or some other wireless device that is unseen to the mommy eye, that is installed into their little precious bodies while they are in the womb. Okay, so I know that they really don't have any device implanted because if they did us mommy's would know.....so I guess that I'm still stuck wondering why and how they know when I pick up the phone.......

I am not sure if this is something others will want to link up to...so let's try it for a couple weeks and see! If no one has the time, or feels the urge to join in I will continue the series but delete Mr. Linky (after two weeks)...Feel free to grab my little banner if you want to participate and don't forget to link back here!

Ever Wonder Why.........

People who don't like people work in the customer service business? I mean if I go to a store and I can't find something and then I ask an employee "Where might I find such and such?" Shouldn't they be more than willing to help me.....and not just shrug me off and say, "I don't know..." and then proceed to walk anyway.... That leaves me WONDERING WHY don't you get someone who does know to help me......how do these people keep there jobs with such a lack of interest in doing their job at all let alone well....WHY do these people work in customer service if they lack interest in actually helping the people who help them to keep their jobs....the customers? Well I don't have any actual answers but I could think of a few solutions to deal with such people, but we won't go into that....still it leaves me puzzled and WONDERING WHY?

Since this is the first week I don't expect anyone would want to link up today...but next week I will have Mr. Linky for anyone who wishes to share any WONDERING WHY...they have on their mind!
