Homemade Window Cleaning Solution Recipes

I am cleaning the windows on the first story today!! Ohhh Sunshine how I love you!! I googled homemade window cleaning solutions and this is what I found...just in case your in the mood to wash your windows this week! Be sure to scroll to the bottom and read the tips I found...very clever!

Recipe #1


2 cups rubbing alcohol (70 percent isopropyl)

1/2 cup ammonia

1 tsp dish detergent (liquid)

top with water until you have 1 gallon of window cleaner



Recipe #2

2 cups water

3 TBS vinegar

1/2 tsp dish detergent (liquid)



Recipe #3

1 gallon water

1/4 cup vinegar

1 tsp dish detergent (liquid)



Recipe #4

1 gallon water

1/4 cup vinegar

2 TBS lemon juice

squirt dish detergent (liquid)



Recipe #5

1/2 cup white vinegar

1 gallon warm water



Recipe #6

2 TBSP cornstarch

1/2 cup household ammonia

1/2 cup white vinegar

1 gallon warm water

■Mix the ingredients in a bucket, make sure cornstarch is thoroughly dissolved before using.
 
TIPS FOR CLEANING WINDOWS
 
■Spray windows with preferred cleaner solution then wipe clean with crumpled newspapers. The newspaper helps prevent streaks.


■Avoid cleaning windows and glass when the sun is hot and shining on the window–glass will dry too fast and there will be streaks.

■Also wash one side of the window in an up and down direction, on the other side scrub side to side. This will help determine which side of the glass has the streaks that need to be polished out.

Spring CLEANING: Main Bathroom

~Give the shower/tub area a good scrub down. Use a really good cleaner and even get out a scrub brush and scrub every inch of that shower. Use this as an opportunity to clean out any unused items from the shower, like the rest of that conditioner that you don't use anymore, or the old razor.
~Replace you shower curtain, if it needs it. If you have a cloth one, take it off and wash it this week. Usually they recommend not drying these in the dryer, so they should be fine hanging them a little damp. My suggestion would be to wash the curtain either first thing in the morning or right before bed. And let it dry at a time when not many people will touch it. I would do it during the day when my boys are at school.
~Sweep. Wipe down the floors and the walls with a disinfecting cleaner. Clean the mirror. Wash your curtains. All of these things on the walls and floor will catch any germs as the toilet is being flushed with the lid up. When wiping down the floor, start at the furthest point away from the toilet, then work your way TO the toilet. That way none of the "toilet germs" are spread across the floor.
~Clean your sink. Clean Anything that is also sitting around your sink. I use an old toothbrush around the faucet fixture. You would be grossed out on how much dirt those boys drag in... Summer is horrible! Spring and mud do us NO favors... And then it sits around the faucet. Make sure you are wiping down your sink area DAILY. Especially if anyone in you home is sick with colds or flu.
~Rid out you cupboards. Organize! This is needed in my bathroom! I get so many good deals on things in all kind of gets shoved in our cupboards and then, doesn't really scream organized. Add baskets and drawers, as needed to organize your toothbrushes, combs, and other person items.
~Have a laundry hamper. This seems to go with out saying but it does reduce a lot of mess in a bathroom if there is somewhere for those dirties to go! And if you already have a hamper make sure you clean it!!! This is also a place for germs and bacteria. Spray this down regularly with a disinfecting spray.
~If everything working? Make sure you get those things fixed this week. Are all of the light bulbs working? Anything else need done?
~Last but not least, how is the decorating? Did you want to do anything different? Add anything new? Now's the time!

We only have one bathroom in the whole house....so our Main Bathroom is our only! I might also add that it is a very small space. Bummer, huh? We make it work....I am excited to get some unfinished things taken care of in this room this week!

You realize that their is very little pride involved in this challenge when you see me post these pics. What I REALLY wanted to do was clean up the bathroom before taking these photos. Number one, I wouldn't be being real and Number two the after pictures wouldn't have their Ahhhhhh effect!

Spring CLEANING: Little by Little...Week by Week!

 

Sarah, over at Beautiful 2 God, is hosting a Spring Cleaning series again this year! I think it's a great series, and decided I wanted to be a part of it this year. I love that each week we are given a new challenge, and then we have a week to complete the given area of the house. I work well with instructions and a time line so I am excited to get my house all sparkling clean to begin Spring!

This week the are of the house to clean was the Entry/Foyer:

Everyone else in the challenge has taken before and after pictures to journal their progress. I did not take any pictures this week because there is no drastic or even noticeable changes. For me, this week was about doing those small things that really need done that never get done on a weekly basis.

This is what I did this week in my Entry:

1. De-cob webbed the ceiling!

2. Wiped down all the base board.

3. Scrubbed down the inside and outside of the doors.

4. Shook out the rug till my arms hurt!                                                          

5. Hand scrubbed my area that is tiled,right inside the door, so I made sure I got up all the dirt!

~Unfortunately, about an hour after I was so proud of my super sparkling floor, all four of the kids came in the house with wet mud caked all over their chore boots...UGH!!!!!!!!!~

So it didn't stay sparkling very long, but I am still glad that I did it!
